How to set up and use the Grepolis bot

A step-by-step guide to getting Grepobot running in Grepolis: from the first load to a town that plays itself, and what to check when the Grepolis bot is not working.

Step 1: install it and open Grepolis

Install a userscript manager and the Grepobot script, then load any Grepolis world. Once the game has loaded, a column of icons appears down the left of the game window; the gear at the bottom opens the bot's own window.

There is nothing to sign up for. Your Grepobot account is created from your Grepolis player the first time the bot loads, without a password or an email address.

Step 2: hand a town to the bot

Nothing happens until you say which towns the bot may play. Open the Towns tab, tick Act beside a town, and press Save. That is all farming needs: no goal, no subscription.

Towns you found or conquer later are not added by themselves. Tick Act beside them too.

Step 3: give the town a preset

Building, recruiting and research work towards a goal. Open the town on the Towns tab and pick a preset: Fast start, New town, Farming island, Found a second city, Resource town or Naval town, with ten more behind Show all presets. A town can pursue several at once, and one button gives them to every town.

The switches for each kind of work are the toolbox icons, plus Market and the Bandits' camp on the Automation tab. They apply to the whole account.

Step 4: try everything free for seven days

Farming is free for good. Everything else needs the trial or a subscription: press Activate trial on the Home tab. It lasts seven days and becomes available again every 30 days.

Grepolis bot not working? Check these first

Nothing appears in the game: check that Grepobot is enabled in your userscript manager, then reload the Grepolis tab. The bot starts only on a fresh page load, once the game has finished loading.

The title bar says Off or Not ticking: no town has been handed over, or Act was ticked but not saved. Tick Act and press Save on the Towns tab.

A town builds nothing: it may have no preset, its goals may be complete, or a reserve may be holding resources back. The New town preset keeps 500 wood, stone and silver, and the strictest reserve on the account applies to every town. Change it under Settings, Limits.

It stopped at a captcha: it is waiting for you. Solve the bot check and it starts again by itself.

It stopped overnight: the bot runs in your browser, so a closed tab, a sleeping computer or an expired game session stops it. It never logs you back in. Log in and open the world again.

See why it did what it did

Every town on the Towns tab has Why and Because columns, and a fold called Why this, and not something else. The Console tab's Problems filter shows only warnings and errors.
